Brisbane IBD Study

This population based study aims to get an accurate picture of the number of people who have IBD which will assist with future planning in the provision of health services and funding for research. The data collected and information it will provide on the prevalence and incidence of IBD will also help to identify the possible causes of IBD.

The study is being carried out by the Crohn's & Colitis Laboratory based at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital. If you have IBD (even if it's in remission or you have had 'curative' surgery for UC) and live in the study catchment area postcodes of 4000-4078, 4101-4184, 4205, 4207, 4208, 4280, 4300-4305, 4500-4516, 4520, and 4521, we urge you to take part.

Australian & New Zealand IBD family research project

This research project is ongoing and aims to identify the gene(s) that are involved in IBD. It requires the participation of families where more than one person has been diagnosed who is either a resident of Australia or New Zealand.

Australian paediatric & adolescent database project

This research project is a register of information on IBD in children and adolescents. By grouping together information of as many children and adolescents as possible from all over the country, this large single base of patient information will help establish population trends and patterns, as well provide a resource for research.

Children and adolescents (to 19.4yrs) diagnosed with IBD are invited to participate in this project. (Form to be completed/consent required by parent/guardian for child under 18).
