Book Review

A Special Kind of Cookbook
by the Calgary Chapter of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC)

This book provides information and recipes on good nutrition for those with IBD with the aim of helping to maintain health in periods of remission, and to keep the body in good shape to better deal with a flare-up.

Some answers to dietary concerns in IBD can also be found in this book, with sections covering the causes of malnutrition, dietary recommendations and how to attain and maintain optimum nutritional status.

Recipes and accompanying information are in categories of those required for a normal diet, low milk/lactose, high protein/energy, fibre/residue modifications, and a low fat diet. Other helpful hints are included in the back of the book.
